Social Media Pressure
Social media puts so much pressure on couples to make sure they have tons of photos + film of their wedding reception, people dancing, drinking and having an amazing time. Basically social media says if you don’t have fabulous reception photos and film then your wedding was a bust. With that pressure some couples are tempted to forgo getting ready coverage for reception coverage.
As professional photographers and filmmakers for over the last decade we know just how important the getting ready coverage is. Not so much because you are getting into your dress, shoes and accessories but because of the family and friends who are there to help you.
Mom’s Love
Typically your mom is with you the most during the getting ready portion of the day. This is the time to capture the love your mom shares at it’s best. As we all know, there will come a time when our moms are sadly not with us any more and it is precisely for this reason that documenting photos and film of her helping you get ready is vital. The rest of the wedding day she will be sitting with the the guest for the wedding and for the reception. And if your mom is not a big dancer, the chances of her being in a lot of photos or film past the getting ready coverage is pretty slim.
Dad’s Time to Shine
Dad’s first look also happens during the getting ready coverage. And just like our moms, our dads will also not be with us one day. Dad’s 1st look is his moment to shine along with walking you down the isle and giving a toast. However, after those three big moments have past dad is also with the rest of the guest. If your dad is not a dancer as well, he too will be in slim photo + film coverage.
Because the day focuses on you and your-soon-to be spouse after the getting ready coverage time flys by and is filled with a full timeline of events that revolve around the two of you. As it should since its your wedding day. However, we never want our couples looking back when they are in their 50’s thinking I wish there was more photos and film of my mom helping me get ready or dad’s 1st look, I miss them dearly.
