How do we personalize our Client’s experience with our business? Obviously this question will be answered differently by each Photographer… and it definitely should be! After all, we are all created uniquely and our business should be as unique as we are. For us, personalizing our client’s experience is getting to know them very very well. How do we do this? We listen (really listen) to what our couples say! We experience the wedding day through their words and actions, months before the big day arrives. I connect with the bride on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter to get a great feel for her style and personality. A few of our must ask questions during the wedding consultation: 1.) How did you meet? (We use this answer to get a conversation started.) 2.) How did he propose? (We are their to capture their Love Story; so for us it is important to know how that story started.) 3.)What are three key things we need to know about your wedding day? (This tells us what is important to them on their day.) For instance, if the first thing they say is “we want photos with Nana but she is fragile”. This tells me they are family oriented. We need to focus on family shots, family interacting, family details and so on.If the couple starts off with telling me about DIY details, then we know we need to capture plenty of detail shots. The couple has put a great deal of time and effort into planning, designing and color coordinating all the details. We also use this as an opportunity to showcase the details in a unique way. We will use their details as props for photos as well. And last but not least, one of the best ways we get to know our clients are through Engagement Shoots. Engagement shoots are intimate, personal, fun and freeing. This time allows our couples to experience how we shoot, communicate and give direction. It allows us to learn how our couples interact, what they are comfortable with and how they love. The engagement shoot is a great time to build chemistry with your couple. This may sound crazy, I know, but trust me, when 4 different personalities all get along and have fun; its chemistry!
