We really don’t need a reminder of how crazy 2020 has been or how so many of our everyday freedoms were totally taken away including getting married with friends and family there to celebrate. But with in all the crazy LOVE FOUND A WAY!
And on that journey, of love finding away, bakers across the world produced some of the best and yummies cakes from big to small to help sweeten this years wedding season. To pay tribute to bakers everywhere and to share a few of our favorite cakes from this year we decided to write up this little post of gratitude.
By the way these are in no particular order, we loved each one of them!
Our first cake is from Amanda + Michael’s gorgeous wedding day. Their main wedding cake was an elegant 4 layer cake topped with simple beautiful white and pink roses with a hint of greenery. And along side it was their stadium cake filled with cake balls representing the Eagles and the Jets. This was totally one of a kind and we LOVED it! Wedding Cake – Cake Envy
Next up is Jessica + Taylor’s 4 layer cake which also was adorn with pink and white roses with a touch of greenery. But what made this a one of a kind wedding cake was the wedding topper. Jessica and Taylor had a 3D photo taken of them, the image was then printed by a 3D printer to produce their wedding topper. WOW the accuracy. The back had a little extra flair. Wedding Cake – Dixie Confexions
Unique toppers seemed to be the trend this year as Rachel + Jay also chose a topper to reflect their story. Their three layer wedding cake with beautiful wine, pink and white flowers was topped with a one of a kind lego topper. With everything closing down this year and having a young son together, this year for them was filled with lego building. Legos kept their adorable little family busy for 3 months in their downtown Atlanta high-rise apartment over looking the city as the streets went silent this year. Wedding Cake – Sweetly Baked
Over all this year beautiful flowers and greenery trended for each wedding cake. Each done with a unique touch. We just adored Katheryn + James’ 3 layer smooth wedding cake with hand beaded detailed icing at the top. White roses and elegant greenery topped each layer with a grand display of roses as the topper. They also chose to have a grooms cake represent the Dawgs! Wedding Cake – Montaluce Pastry Chef
Because we are minimalist, the simple yet regal cakes topped our list of favorites. Nicole + Logan chose to keep their 3 layer cake simple yet regal and placed it on an ornate silver cake stand with gold leaf candle votives and pillars. With just a few roses and a touch of greenery their cake held it’s own with beauty. Wedding Cake – Epting Events
We also love cakes with color. Dominique + Josh selected a marble 2 layer cake with gold leaf with a sprig of green at the base. As the light hit their beautiful cake the gold flakes caught everyones eyes. Wedding Cake –Kaylynn’s Cakes
Dessert tables made their way into 2020 as well. Jamie + Michael went with a gorgeous 2 layer naked cake surrounded with roses and topped with a laser etched gold topper. They paired their cake with layers of gourmet delicate chocolate desserts and everyones favs, donuts. Wedding Cake – Piedmont Garden Tent
Jessica + Josh created a very romantic and intimate wedding with 25 guest. It was beyond beautiful and for their cake they went with a 2 layer wedding cake topped with fresh white Anemones and delicate greenery for a light airy feel of romance. Wedding Cake – Peaches and Creme
With crazy new mandates and restrictions popping up at any time this year Deanna + Kenny chose wisely with their cake. They selected a single layer chic naked cake topped with pink and white roses. And because they new their guest count could change at any given moment they decided upon gourmet cupcakes for their guests giving them freedom to change the cup cake count if needed. Brilliant!
We hope this helps you plan out your 2021 wedding cake! We can’t wait to document what you curate for your gorgeous wedding day.
