EEEEK it’s engagement session season and love is in the air. We know that selecting an outfit for a date night can be hard enough let alone choosing one for your engagement session. Which is why we are here to help darling. Below our a few professional tips to looking your best.
- First and foremost, less is more when it comes to selecting the perfect engagement-photo outfit. We highly recommend subtle, soft and neutral colors for a classic, timeless look without regrets. When culling though outfits think muted tones like beiges, taupes, blacks, whites which are the most flattering. Avoid deeply saturated or bright colors like a vibrant red or orange; those colors will reflect back on your face, giving a not so flattering look.
- However, reds and oranges are not totally off limits. If you love red or other saturated colors we have suggestions for fun ways to include them. Getting a little creative these colors can be incorporated in a different way that’s not so close to the face, such as with skirts or shoes.
- A well fitting outfit wrinkle free outfit should be the top priority. It may be tempting to buy a brand new outfit and wear it for the first time on your engagement session, but we don’t recommend that. You can still buy a fun new outfit, but don’t have your engagement-shoot day be the first day you wear it. Wear the outfit to dinner, get a few iPhone photos in it, and see if you truly like how it looks. Nothing’s worse than realizing during the shoot that your shirt wrinkles terribly, your pants stretch out after 30 minutes, or you just don’t like how it looks.
- Last but not least, your engagement session is the perfect time for a hair and makeup trial. It’s a huge plus to see how your makeup looks in professional photographs. What feels like a lot of makeup often doesn’t show up as dramatically on camera. It’s helpful to be able to make any makeup tweaks after the engagement session. That way you will look flawless on your wedding day!”
