Some love stories just seem to fall into place from the very beginning. For Ryan and Kaitlin, you could say it was love at first date. After all, when your very first date lasts 11 hours, that has to mean something special!
Ryan and Kaitlin met in college and began dating in 2025. From the very beginning, their story was one worth celebrating, and on a beautiful Friday morning in the North Georgia mountains, Ryan decided it was time to begin their next chapter together.
A Surprise She Never Saw Coming
About a month before the big day, Ryan reached out to us to help plan something truly special. He had one goal in mind: to surprise Kaitlin with a proposal she would never forget.
And he certainly delivered!
With the beautiful mountain views surrounding Amicalola Falls Lodge, Ryan had everything planned. He even arranged to have flowers waiting for Kaitlin and had a special heart-shaped ring box handcrafted with their initials engraved on it. It was one of those thoughtful little details that made the moment even more meaningful.
When Friday morning arrived, Kaitlin had absolutely no idea what was about to happen. There she was, taking in the gorgeous mountain scenery, completely unaware that her life was about to change in the most wonderful way.

Then came the question.
Ryan asked Kaitlin to marry him, and her reaction was priceless. She was completely shocked! The surprise was real, the emotions were overflowing, and, of course, she said YES!
There is something so beautiful about photographing a surprise proposal. You get to witness a moment that is completely genuine, when the surprise, the joy, and the love all come together at once. No amount of planning can recreate that first look of disbelief followed by the realization that the person you love has just asked you to spend the rest of your life with them.
And this was one of those moments we won’t soon forget.
Mountain Views, Flowers, and a Whole Lot of Love
After the proposal, we took some time to capture portraits of the newly engaged couple with the stunning mountain views as their backdrop. The setting couldn’t have been more fitting for such a special occasion. There is something about the mountains that makes a moment like this feel even more magical.
Once we finished photographing their newly engaged glow at the lodge, we headed over to Amicalola Falls for a few more photos. The falls gave us another beautiful backdrop to celebrate this exciting new chapter in their story.
Between the mountain scenery, the rushing water, and the excitement of their newly announced engagement, it was such a wonderful way to spend a Friday morning capturing two people who are clearly so happy to be building a future together.
From an 11-Hour First Date to Forever
One of my favorite details about Ryan and Kaitlin’s story is how it all began. They met in college, started dating in 2025, and their very first date lasted about 11 hours!
Eleven hours! I think it’s safe to say they had plenty to talk about.
Sometimes you meet someone and the conversation just flows. One hour turns into two, two turns into five, and before you know it, an entire day has passed. You lose track of time because being together simply feels right. Perhaps that is what people mean when they talk about love at first sight—or, in their case, love at first date.
Now, as they look ahead to a wedding date in 2028, they have so much to look forward to. Their engagement marks the beginning of an exciting season filled with planning, dreaming, and imagining the life they will build together.

Ryan and Kaitlin, thank you for allowing Horn Photography and Design to be part of such a meaningful moment in your story. Ryan, you did a wonderful job planning a surprise that Kaitlin will remember for the rest of her life, and Kaitlin, your reaction made the entire morning that much sweeter.
We are so happy for you both and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Here’s to a love that began with an 11-hour first date, a surprise mountain proposal, and a lifetime of adventures still to come.
Congratulations, Ryan & Kaitlin! ❤️
