Historic DeKalb Courthouse Wedding
Catherine + Matt became husband and wife at their Historic DeKalb Courthouse Wedding in DeKalb. All was beyond beautiful as these two amazing souls came together as one.
We asked Catherine what she chose the Courthouse.
“Stateliness. The DeKalb History Center is beautiful, elegant, romantic and simple. Less is more truly applies, all on its own. Location. Many of our guests, both family and friends, aren’t in Atlanta. We wanted to provide ease to them. The hotel block and rehearsal dinner was just a few blocks away from the venue. Guests flying in could take MARTA to the area straight from the airport. DeKalb History Center is in the square of Downtown Decatur with plenty of amenities for guests to enjoy beyond the wedding. It is also 20-45 min. away from other Atlanta attractions.”
These two hearts were introduced by mutual friends in college, 2010. From there the spark of love was ignited.
Matt felt a call on his heart to take Catherine as his wife so on the last day of their vacation in Hawaii he decided to ask Catherine to marry him. They both woke up early for a sunrise hike to the beach that very last day. While Catherine was taking photos of the sun breaking, Matt got down on one knee and asked her to marry him with a simple band in hand. He wanted to ask her privately, away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the world.
Obviously she said yes leading to this brilliant day!
Getting Ready
Both the ladies and the gentlemen got ready at the Hampton In and Suites just a hallway apart from each other.
Catherine slipped into her Martina Liana Dress wedding dress with the solo help of her mother. The moment and memories created from this special mother daughter time was so precious.
Matt, with the help of his best man, suited up looking very dapper.
Gift Giver Love Language
We also leaned that Catherines love language is gift giving, LOVE!! She had gifts for all the parents and for her groom. The first gift went to her mother! Grab a tissue!

First Looks
Once Catherine was ready and looked stunning it was time for first looks. We began with the bridesmaids 1st look. Also during this time Matt had a first look with his mother, oh yes, mothers first look is a thing and so full of abundant joy!
We then headed down the street to the Courthouse where Matt and Catherine did their first look together. Catherine brought along confetti poppers to celebrate the moment!
Wedding Day Romantic Photos
Before the ceremony and before guest arrived we took advantage of the empty courthouse to document beautiful romantic photos of just these two wonderful souls, soon to be united for a lifetime. It also gave Catherine time to give Matt his gift.
Dad’s First Look
Catherine had one more gift to give, the one that went to her father. With a knock on the door it was time for dad to see his “little girl” for the first time on her wedding day.
Creme de le Chic was the decor artist and florist for this Courthouse Wedding. All the floral arrangements were a stunning mix of floral and colors that fit the vision Catherine had perfectly. Flowers included white hydrangeas, white ranunculus, white and blush roses, blush spray roses, blue thistle, white anemone, seeded eucalyptus, olive greenery, blush stock flower, Italian ruscus, dusty miller, white snowberries.
The Historic Courthouse Wedding Vows
Guests filled the bottom floor and enjoyed drinks and refreshments as they awaited the special moment of the ceremony room opening. Guest fluttered into their seats and a hum of excitement filled the 4marble walls. It was wedding time!
One of the friends (Andrew) who introduced Catherine + Matt officiated the wedding ceremony. Catherine said he has been a good friend to them both for 10+ years. and became he has been a part of their beginning and other milestones of their relationship they both felt it was only fitting that he be a part of the beginning of their marriage.
Catherine share with us, “What he prepared for the ceremony was touching and reflective of us as a couple. Beyond his thoughtfulness in preparing the ceremony, he wrote us letters. He let us keep the journal used for the ceremony with his script. Inside the journal he included a letter to us both and individually. “
Also, one of Catherine’s childhood best friend’s, Molly, read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. She helped them prepare for their first dance. Catherine and Matt visited her in Scotland while she was in grad school.
Wedding Veil Photos
Catherine shared with us how much she loves a good veil shot so after the wedding we snuck them out side for a few.
Then it was time to party at this historic courthouse wedding!
