As the new year begins wedding blogs + magazines are offering articles to help couples find a photographer for their beautiful wedding day. Most of the articles have anywhere from 10 to 15 questions to ask the photographer/photographers your interested in. However, most of these questions only touch on the surface and will most likely be answered the same across the board.
Do you have our date available?
What kind of equipment do you use? Do you have backups?
What is the turn around time on photos, albums, etc?
These questions are all important, but they don’t get into the heart + soul of the artists who will be capturing one of the most important days of your life. After all, your photographers will be the people who spend most of the day with you, you’ll want to make sure your personalities mesh, click, jive, vibe… basically your artistic soulmate. 5 questions we recommend asking that will help you find your artistic soulmates are:
1.) What are your favorite things to do for fun in your spare time?
2.)What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
3.) What was the best wedding moment you have ever witnessed and what was the worst?
4.) What do you think is most important at a wedding?
5.) Why did you become a wedding photographer?
Questions of this nature will bring out the true personally of your potential “artistic soulmate”. If the photographer/photographers are the right fit for you these questions should also lead into a fun conversation allowing you to feel relaxed, comfortable, giddy and excited about your wedding day.
