Waterfall Surprise Proposal
This surprise proposal is just glorious. Life is funny the way it moves, the way it intertwines; one soul with another and simultaneously sets both souls on a joined path of wonder, adventure and unequivocal joy. With this union both souls then become part of an entirely new family. They are forever joined with lifeblood coursing through their veins. But to know that it goes even deeper than that, opens the mind to the realm of imagination and possibilities. To become two souls gifted with the ability to become co-creators in life.
I stand in awe of the reality that we have the ability to be co-creators in life. To share blood, heart and spirit with another living breathing soul. To be given the gift of connecting so deeply that we can create new life. I bow in humble thanks to our creator!
Ok let me reel it back in!
This past weekend we had the beyond blessing to document and photograph the moment as one of our dearest friends, Edgar, had a surprise proposal and asked his girlfriend Corrinne to marry him. She said yes!
Here is the setup.
About a month before the proposal, Edgar contacted us with a photo of the ring. Best text ever, by the way. He also said they would be passing through North Georgia on their way to FL from Ohio and would love to stop by for a quick visit (2hr stop). Obviously after hearing that I suggested that he propose while they were here and we could photograph and document it all. I selfishly, also wanted to be the one there to see it all happen. I can’t help it. This is one of our best friends we are talking about. I really wanted to be there when it happened. I was so EXCITED!
Edgar agreed and so we set up the waterfall hike for the surprise proposal. Brandon and I also packed a lunch for the 4 of us. We hid a bottle of champagne along with a dozen pink roses in the back of our car too. As we drove up to the waterfall I could not stop talking, I was too excited. At the same time I was trying not to give it away. Edgar played it calm and cool, not a nervous bone in his body. He and Corrinne had talked a lot about marriage and their wedding day already, which I love.
The suspense built.
When we arrived, Edgar helped Corrinne hike to the waterfall like a true gentlemen. We then proceeded to take a few photos of us with them to make it look like we just brought the cameras for selfies and nature pics. Then as we moved back for an epic waterfall pic Edgar dropped to one knee and asked Corrinne to be his bride. THE SURPRISE PROPOSAL!! You could just feel God smiling down and the angels dancing with joy. It was perfect.
Back to the start.
Which brings me back to all my chatter above about souls intertwined. Having the blessing to witness one of our dearest friends propose moved my heart and editing their photos kept this moment going. Within their love story I can see the love story of this world. The love we are created to experience. It was almost as if I was given, for a brief moment, the ability to peer into their future and see true deep love at its best.
So from our hearts to yours Edgar + Corrinne,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. We can’t wait to see all the goodness, joy and love your marriage will bring in the future. And thank you for allowing us to be there to photograph your surprise proposal and document this incredibly special day for you.
Much Love + Blessings,
The Horns
The hike into the waterfall!
With no idea what is about to happen.
And then it does.
