As promised I plan on sharing all my organic hair product recipes, my goal is to share at least one every two weeks. If you would like me to do an organic product post once a week let me know and I can make that happen.
Once I learned that I could make all my hair products at home I was hooked. I love knowing exactly what is in all of my hair products, I also know they are 100% organic and 100% safe. And a big bonus they are incredibly easy to make.
I like a hair spray that is flexible but still holds my curls well and is soft. I know, I expect a lot. But this recipe seems to do the trick perfectly.
Organic Hair Spray Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup purified or distilled water
- 1 tablespoon organic fair trade sugar or organic coconut sugar
- Bring water to a simmer and remove from heat. Add sugar and whisk until completely dissolved.
- Store in a glass spray bottle with a fine mister.
- Shake before each use
That is it super simple and easy!
Sometimes I will add 25 drops of my favorite essential oils to the mix after it is completely cooled. I love to add Bergamot or sweet orange and sometimes a little rosemary.
A Few Side Notes
Water-based homemade recipes have a limited shelf life, usually lasting 3-4 weeks. Keep this in mind when you make up your batch so you make the right amount for yourself.
Also if you are new to essential oils be sure to check out the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy. It will walk you through safely using essential oils as they are strong and having good knowledge about them before using them is key.
